MAILER-DAEMON: eternal return

NEW

THANK YOU. to israel. i quote vice premier shimon peres: "The president of Iran should remember that Iran can also be wiped off the map." and thank you for reminding us that there's probably a reason you haven't signed the NPT.

COLBERT. totally rocks my world. and apparently not the president's. read this.

LIBEL: some of you are probably wondering why this website was taken offline for several months. others didn't notice. most didn't care. but here's why:
i wrote the following letter to the seattle pi (january 1, 2006)
Congress tries to make education cost even more

some douchebag read it and e-mailed me his reply that "they probably won't print". read it here. it's worth it.

STILL CAN'T SHUT UP ABOUT THIS. after all of these months of my death threats to the registrar, i actually won. it got to the point, for me, where i was just trying to piss him off by appealing his decisions (the university imposes no limit on appeals). but...oh...the academic standards committee overrode him. the petition's lost its 'appeal' to me, but the victory is worth the price of admission ($35K a year).

IMMIGRATION

the difference. OK, just to clear things up. there is a difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants. no one is trying to say that immigrants are bad or that they don't make up a significant portion of the country's economic power - they do, and they're rewarded by full rights. everyone, especially the media, is screwing that up! immigrants have rights in this country, full rights. illegal immigrants do not, well, because they're here illegally. if they don't obey the part of our laws that they don't like, why should we give them the benefits of the part they do like? the solution is not to give rights to illegal immigrants - the solution is to come here legally. duh.

rebuttles. quotes from here.
"It's like the British before the Revolutionary War." no, the colonists were here legally.
"I came to this country because its freer than where I came from ... and we need to keep it that way." no, we need to keep it that way. part of a free country is keeping out terrorist assholes like you.

illegal immigrants. leave us alone. we don't owe you anything - if you're here illegally, you have no right to demand anything of our country. if you don't like the way we treat you, then go home.

mexicans. you know there's a problem when mexico's foreign policy involves making the US take more mexicans. to quote prime minister fox: "The issue of migration, especially in the United States, needs a new focus over the long term to permit the movement and residence of Mexican nationals to be safe, comfortable, legal and orderly." hey, how about you spend your time figuring out why it is that people want to come to america (we should think about that one too...) and try to FIX IT IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY rather than shipping people off to us. lazy mexicans.

blacks. apparently they're against mexicans too. why? "Most homeless people in LA are black and illegal immigration compounds the problem since blacks refuse to accept the slave wages that many illegal immigrants accept." (from black activists join to march with minutemen) what's wrong with this picture? maybe said activists should learn from the mexicans. if you want people to pay attention to you, stop blaming everyone else for your problems, stop acting like you are preserving your dignity by not accepting slave wages (but happily begging for change?), and START WORKING.

OIL

republicans. i love this: “Nobody has any sympathy for oil companies on Capitol Hill right now,” said Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., “You talk to someone driving to work in an F-150 pickup and paying $75 to fill up his tank, and everybody’s on his side.” (from here) hey, maybe we shouldn't be on the side of the idiot who's driving a f-150 pickup - maybe we should be on the side of the guy who's driving the prius to work and still having to pay $40 to fill up.

exxon. they suck. more here. but unfortunately they do pay a 2% dividend.

iraq. wtf? the conspiracy theorists say that the bush administration invaded iraq to get free oil - and after the operation has failed each of the steps in its evolving mission: to stop terrorism, to spread democracy, to establish a legitimate government, to prevent a civil war, and finally to not be a black hole for american funds - it has now failed to attain even the most insidious motive, cheap oil. it's time to move to canada. oh, wait, no. gas costs more there.

the beamer. is up and running. 35 mpg. if the germans could put out a cool car that gets good mileage BEFORE I WAS BORN, american car companies either need to die or shut up and produce a fuel efficient car. it looks like the former is actually happening.

we're saved! bush has announced a "probe" into oil prices! you might think that in order to insert the probe in the correct place, he'd have to take his head out of his ass and therefore notice that the world is getting warmer, but no - his solution to high gas prices is to relax environmental standards on oil refineries.
